ORT,

On such a dark day, I can’t listen to music.

Ian, that is why I call it the soundtrack of your life. We all have one.

I have probably listened to George Harrison’s magnum opus “All Things Must Pass” a brazillion times over the 5+ decades since its release but it not only speaks to me, but of me.

The Lord make His face to shine upon you, my friend.

Really interesting and varied list, some of which shaped me as well, and those that didn’t I will certainly check out. Peace.

Asa,

I can’t even share the things I know or some images and videos that are not on social media any longer. Just a brutal weekend.

I have been a Tangerine Dream fan for decades. Just love their music.

ORT,

Not sure how much people understood from the first few paragraphs, but music and family have been the only things to get me through the past few days.

“Could It Be I’m Fallin’ In Love” by The Spinners is my absolute favorite song. It was made a part of my soundtrack when it came out and I had my first crush on a girl (a year older than me!). That girl’s name is the same as that of my wife and of course since meeting her I think of my wife anytime I hear that song.

I do not weep for the generations whose 20Hz noise will be their “soundtrack”. Just imagine reminiscing over robbing a liquor store when a piece of cRap floods the interior of yo’ fly ride…Or worse. ‘n’ sheit. FTN.

I’ve been reading on the ground accounts from individuals reporting via X-Twitter this am. Something is amiss there, surely. They’re never not prepared.

I’ve seen RUSH live multiple times beginning with Signals and they were the perfect live band as their music sounded just like the album version. Some wanted more “show” in their shows, but I expected it to be just as it was. The best triple-threat in music/musicanship. I own many of their concerts on BD, including the last…may have to run that tonight.

Re: Tangerine Dream – they were my first CD of electronic/ambient working music. This was in the late 90s and people at work used to wonder what I was listening to and had puzzled looks, except for one person who was into it and we ended up trading favorites. I also listen to a lot Tycho, Bonobo, Emancipator, and similar.

TD reminded me of my foray into more atmospheric music via Musical Starstreams. They’re still around (Forest) and still show the playlists going back to the start. Check them out as you might find some cool music there.

Thank again, Ian!

I missed their final tour as well. After 19 shows, I really saw them enough times.

“A Show of Hands” concert in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens and a show in Texas with my ex-BIL were my two favorites.

Still can’t believe Neil Peart died.

Agreed. Maybe GUP is especially important to me as that was my first Rush concert, but I’ve been a fan since A Farewell to Kings. But, I’m sad to say I missed their final tour due to astronomical ticket priced even for nosebleeds.

Two excellent tracks on a very underrated album. I’ve seen Rush 19 times and I was always got excited when they played anything from Grace Under Pressure.

Great to know I’m not alone.
