Thanks for the article Robert, I always enjoy reading about the higher end gear. I have to agree with Keith above, I find this gear to be completely outrageous, but I understand there is a market for it (obviously). Personally, I’d put my SVS subs up against them or even my GE Triton One.Rs with the 1,600 watt supersub amps built int to each speaker, but that’s me. Like I always say, enjoy your gear, whether it’s Wilson, B&W, Avantgarde, … buy and assemble what makes you happy.

The ATC SCM50ASL are insane. One of the best speakers I’ve ever heard. Review coming early in January.

YES!!!!!!! Grado makes P-Mount cartridges! You know…The kind for lower life forms with more cranial capacity than IQ and that don’t possess opposable thumbs!

That would be me. I have a P-Mount on my Technics SL-QD33 Direct Drive ‘table. Yes it’s, it’s twue! It’s twue! I bought a new OEM-ish cartridge a while back but a Grado is much better looking and P-Mounts were made for my kind…

I have found a mission. My special purpose. And they come in Christmas Colours! Red and green are my favorite colours.

This is good news indeed. So hey. I own a pair of Grado SR225s (the original version) and I like their style.

And style is back in style. Besides that I fully expect a bit more playback improvement from any Grado cartridge, even one that I can afford. I am shallow.

I’ve owned so many speaker models in my 72 years, but ATC is in a special class. I’ve owned three ATC speaker models, 35 (passive), 20 (active), & finally my current speaker, ATC SCM 100A Classic. The 100s are far & away the best speakers I’ve ever heard, regardless of price. I won’t be looking to trade these in, even if I live to be 100!

What’s the status with encryption?

I just read on the Tablo web site that ” broadcast station ownership groups have indicated their intent to encrypt ATSC 3.0 signals using Digital Rights Management (DRM).”

So, Tablo just dropped their ATSC 3.0 tuner. And you think LG, Sony, etc… are gonna put decryption devices and more licenses in their YVs?

So, pretty much means that the typical greed of content providers is killing off ATSC 3.0.

We got too many lawyers in this country…
